JUNIORS
They are the future of the dog fancy. Junior handlers are the people that will continue our lines, our shows and preserve our purebred dogs long after we have stopped. Junior Showmanship gives young children and teens a valuable opportunity to learn animal husbandry, the physical training of their dogs and themselves, to practice self-discipline and set goals to strive for. Like many other organized activities, there are avenues for growth and education beyond what is apparent at first glance.
Peewee and Novice
2 of our dogs, Juni and Cypher, have proven to be amazing dogs for any junior to take into the ring. Arlo and Silas started showing in April of 2023, and have been practicing and training regularly since then. While Arlo’s favorite part is the goodie bags, Silas set a goal for himself to win first place in his class.
Silas set a goal for himself for 2023, which was to win 1st place in his class at a show. Silas was in Novice Junior in September, and won 1st place in a class of 7. Juni was perfect, and had a great time!

Juni had never met this young man, but handled for him perfectly. When I asked how she was for him, he said “Like a cup of tea!”

Cypher met this young lady and went into the ring with her without hesitation. They took first place, which was also this Junior’s first time taking first place with competition. Yes, tears were shed!!
